1996 Boys Arsenal U14 Hammer Cup Champions.

Anthem Arsenal do it again.

During the weekend beginning Friday Oct. 9th, Anthem Arsenal U14 Boys won the Hammer Cup Championship in their division.  With only one substitution all weekend, Arsenal played a total of four games.  On Friday evening they won their first game 1-0 against CCV Stars 96 NM, tied their second game at 5-5 against Tuzos SC Pachuca 96 and won their third game 6-0 against South Bank 79ers, concluding with a come from behind victory of 3-2 in the final 10 minutes of the championship game to beat CCV Stars 96 NM and win 1st place medals.  The boys really earned this championship and have worked hard over the past 8 weeks running at least one extra mile after each hour and half practice to build up their endurance.  Trained by Mark Kerlin and coached by Rusty Murdaugh these young men are really learning the game and working together as a team.  Murdaugh quotes,   "Its really rewarding to see these boys succeed given how hard they have worked not only this season but some of these kids have played together for the past 6 years.  They are really learning and enjoying the game.  Our goal is to prepare them for High School soccer while learning the benefits of a team sport".
