Mark Kerlin has been involved in the sport of soccer since the age of nine. Born in Phoenix, it has been the pure love of the game that has carried him through 40 years of amateur and professional competition. His self-imposed, demanding physical conditioning program has served him well throughout his career allowing him success on 15 professional soccer teams. He has starred in Dallas, Baltimore, San Francisco, Tacoma, Milwaukee and all five professional teams in Arizona – the Inferno, Pride, Condors, Sandsharks and the Thunder. In 1994, he won a championship title with the Las Vegas Dustdevils. Mark has always been an ambassador for Phoenix soccer, conducting and taking part in camps, clinics and personal appearances all across the valley. He was the first Arizona native to sign a professional soccer contract. Throughout his 18 years of professional soccer, Mark has acquired experience and knowledge from the many diverse coaches he has played for. Coaches that have played or coached for their countries, such as England, Brazil, Argentina, Yugoslavia, Portugal and many more. Mark has utilized the diverse training regimens of each of these coaches to develop his own training progams that integrate the styles and the best methods of each coach. He continues to stay educated on the latest and current trends and changes in the world of soccer. United State Soccer Federation License Level “B” Soccer Coach
Coached the State of Washington “Russian” team. All Nations Cup winners in 2006 (10-0-0), 2007 Second Place in the All Nations Cup (6-1-0).
Individually coached over 40 players in the United States. Nine (12) of these players went on to play for professional teams in Israel, the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Germany, North Ireland, and Scotland.
Individually coached hundreds of players in Israel. Eighteen (18) of these players went on to play for professional teams in Israel, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Russia.
Played in the Second Division in the USSR for Dushanbe Volga (1984 – 1986).
Played in the Premier League in the USSR for Moscow CSKA-MVO (1986-1988) and for Dushanbe Pamir 1988-1990). MVP for this league.

Coach Alex Juarez
Coach Alex Juarez was introduced to soccer at a very young age in Mexico City. Alex played soccer at the American School in Mexico City since he was 6 years old. After graduating from the American School in 1981, Alex played soccer at Universidad Intercontinental. Alex transferred to the University of South Florida in 1984 and played two years in Tampa Bay. In 1988 Alex moved to Wisconsin and played for the Sheboygan Golden Arches and in 1989 the Fondulac Express. In 1991 he moved to Arizona where he played for the Arizona International. In 1995 Alex helped ex NFL kicker Max Zendejas and Abe Arroyo start the USISL Premier League Arizona Phoenix.
Alex’s coaching experience in the Anthem Soccer Club dates to 2009. Throughout his soccer career Alex played goal keeper and now enjoys teaching youth how to play the sport with tremendous passion.
Jonathon Pampinella, a Valley native started with Anthem Soccer Club at a young age. Jonathon was among one of the first to play in the club’s early years. While playing for Anthem Soccer Club, Jonathon was selected four years in a row to play Varsity level soccer at Boulder Creek High School, and represented the State of Arizona for ODP at four regional Tournaments.
Jonathon then went on to play at Scottsdale Community College and then onto Culver Stockton College, where he was part of the programs deepest playoff run in school history. He also earned all-academic conference team two years in a row.
Among his playing experience Jonathon has been coaching at both youth and senior levels for many years. Jonathon has been featured as Head Coach and Trainer for Anthem Soccer Club Starting in 2012. Jonathon has coached both boys and girls from U8-U18 for Anthem Soccer Club.
In 2017 Jonathon took a position as Head Coach and Trainer with the University of Wollongong in Australia for both the 18 boys and first division Senior Women’s program. While in Australia, Jonathon was able to immerse himself in the international game while blending both styles of United States and Australia. Jonathon now has strong connections at both a national and international level.
Jonathon’s experiences both internationally and collegiate can help any Anthem Soccer Club player develop on the national and international stage.
Coach Petar Draksin
Anthem Soccer Club is proud to announce Petar Draksin as the newest member of our staff! Petar will join us as Director of Tournaments, Director of College Information, and in a coaching capacity. Petar arrived in the United States at the age of 15 from Yugoslavia (Serbia) with aspirations to pursue a professional soccer career. He spent 5 years playing for several indoor and outdoor professional teams before he embarked on his impressive coaching career. Petar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our club, having been the head coach of Grand Canyon University Men’s Soccer Team for 22 years and their Women’s Soccer Team from 2002-2006. Since 1982, Petar has coached both boys and girls of various age groups in the AYSA. His teams have captured numerous state championships and three regional crowns.
In addition to what he adds as a coach, Petar brings a vast knowledge of the collegiate system and many connections that our parents and players can utilize as they transition from high school to college.
